Sam Section Felling a Silver Birch, which had unfortunately died after the levels were raised by approx 1 m at the trees base.

A Ganoderma resinaceum Fruit body (bracket) on Quercus Ilex (Holm Oak) in Framilode, Stroud. Rather rare, but potentialy indicating compromised integrity of Roots / Butt of tree infected.

Kretzschmaria deusta. A relatively commonly spotted fruiting body here in the Cotswolds, here photographed on a Lime Tree in Framilode, Stroud. But often spotted on our local Beech trees. Almost always indicating a potential hazard due to its potential to cause catastrophic brittle fracture.

Ali Section felling a damaged and diseased Mature Horse Chestnut tree in Rectory Gardens, Rodborough, Stroud. It was a sad day when this huge old Horse Chestnut had to be felled due to a large wound at the trees base, Strips of Bark de laminating, Several areas of advanced decay which are visible in the pictures as an area showing several large Dryads saddle brackets (Polyporus squamosus). Signs of phytophthora or weeping canker were also evident. With the tree being located directly next to the childrens play area it was causing some concern. The tree was section felled using our Stein Rigging / Lowering block and the main stems of the tree were sculpted and turned into an in situ bench, stepping stones, and a giant mushroom for the children (and adults) to enjoy.
